Joel Keene is a bass trombonist currently residing and working in the Houston area. Joel earned his BM in Instrumental Performance at the University of North Texas where he was a member of the One O'clock Lab Band. He went on to the University of Miami where he earned a MM in Jazz Pedagogy and is jumping through the final hoops on his DMA in Instrumental Performance. His performance experience is exceptional.

My DMA Lecture
I completed my doctoral lecture entitled The Influence of Jazz Harmony and Jazz Style on Selected Bass Trombone Solo Literature on April 23, 2009. You can go through the lecture and listen to the performances in the "Lecture & Performance" section of each example. Listening to the lecture and performances requires Adobe Flash Player. Viewing the examples requires Sibelius Scorch plug-in and is best viewed in Firefox. I am working to get the video of the lecture and performances online soon.
Personally, I am quite proud of the performances and would invite you to listen to them live from the lecture pages.
